Dhampus peak climbing - 15 Days

Dhampus peak climbing - 15 Days

Overview And Highlights

Dhampus Peak (6012m), also known as Thapa Peak is a trekking peak located in Kaski district of north-central Nepal. The peak lies in the famous Annapurna trekking circuit and is clearly visible from Dhampus Village. In fact, Dhampus peak is part of the Dhaulagiri Range. From the summit climbers can catch a majestic glimpse of tallest Himalayan peaks including Annapurna, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri I, Mt. Fishtail among others.

The approach to Dhampus peak starts from Tukuche, a popular starting point for many Annapurna treks and passes through the Kali Gandaki Valley drained by Kali Gandaki River. The region is famous for Thakali community and their hospitality, milestones and rare wildlife and the temple of Chumig Gyatsa or Muktinath.

Climbing Dhampus peak is technically easier, so anyone inspiring to taste the Himalayan climbing can opt for this mountain. Crossing the Dhampus Pass (5200m), one of the highest passes in the Himalayas, is a major highlight of Dhampus peak climbing. The entire ordeal takes about two weeks.
